While summer in Lake Tahoe is a popular time of year, Fall in South Lake Tahoe is a favorite of many locals. Not only is the town a bit quieter and the weather still fabulous, but some of the favorite local events take place during this time. Oktoberfest at Camp Richardson, The Kokanee Fish Festival at Taylor Creek and the Education Food and Wine Festival are just a few annual events we look forward to. A newer event that is going into its fifth year is the South Lake Tahoe Food and Wine Festival at Harrah’s and Harvey’s. This celebrity chef studded event has something for everyone!
First, let’s start with the chefs. Rocco DiSpirito is not only an award winning chef but also the author of ten highly-acclaimed cookbooks, including a #1 New York Times best seller. He was also voted by Food & Wine Magazine’s as the “Best New Chef,” Gourmet Magazine’s “America’s Most Exciting Young Chef” and People’s “Sexiest Chef Alive”.
A local culinary legend is Mark Estee. A nationally recognized chef, Mark is also a trailblazer in the Reno restaurant culture. He owns and operates seven restaurants across northern Nevada and northern California. He is one of Reno’s most well-known advocates.
Next, let’s discuss events. There are several to choose from, all of which have varying times and ticket prices. The Grand Market Expo with Demonstrations by Rocco Dispirito is the signature event and will kick off the culinary weekend. This is a tasting of food, wine, craft brews and more. Other events include a wine tasting, a whisky tasting, a 60 minute demonstration from Rocco and more.
