Dredging in the Tahoe Keys Marina has been a hot topic the last several months with our declining water level not just in Lake Tahoe but the drought in California. The first of April finally saw some headway being made and the projects have finally started as the Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board approved maintenance dredging permits for Tahoe Keys Property Owners Association and Tahoe Keys Marina.
The project in the Tahoe Keys Marina is in the East channel. 4,200 cubic yards of materials and accumulated sand will be removed. This project is forecasted the take about two months with the completion date around the beginning of June, just in time for our busy Summer season and all the water sports that come with it.
The Tahoe Keys Property Owner Association will be focusing on the West channel in the Tahoe Keys. There will be 5,600 cubic yards of sand removed and relocated to a nearby beach for the purpose of replenishing. This project is expected to be finished by Late May.
These dredging projects will be using turbidity curtains to contain sediment that could negatively impact the clarity of the lake. Stay tuned for updates as these projects progress!
