Memorial Day weekend kicks off the Lake Tahoe Summer and Labor Day weekend is the last warm weather festive hurrah. The weekend truly goes out with a bang thanks to the fireworks over the lake, but there are so many more activities to look forward to leading up to the summer finale. Below are a few of the other major Lake Tahoe local events of the summer.

Sample The Sierra is a farm to fork festival that features local culinary delights and wine with events all weekend long. Friday there is a Pop Up dinner featuring a 3 course meal by The Ridge Tahoe’s Executive Chef as well as a documentary. Saturday has 3 different events: A Farm to Fork Bus Tour of Apple Hill, SUP and Sip and Paint and Sip. Sunday is the big Sample the Sierra event at Bijou Community Park. Sample The Sierra will feature wine tastings, chef pairings, a chef challenge, live music and so much more.

Live music is another great option to keep you entertained leading up to the big firework show. There will be music on the beach at Tahoe Beach Retreat, live music at Riva Grill Friday and Sunday night, and The Eagles Tour is making a stop in Lake Tahoe at the Harvey’s Outdoor Theatre on both Friday and Saturday night.

Another annual event that everyone loves is the Great Lake Tahoe Sternwheeler race. Nevada’s MS Dixie II races against California’s Tahoe Queen in a four-mile race along the shoreline of stunning Lake Tahoe for a chance to win the Tahoe Cup. Aboard this race there will be entertainment, food and more.

The Heavenly Sports Labor Day sale is an exciting event that really says goodbye to summer and hello to winter. All weekend long there will be amazing deals on all things snowboard and skiing for all ages and all levels.
