As summer is starting to wind down, I think most of us can safely say that this summer’s music line up was one of the best in the last couple years. Carrie Underwood, Lady Gaga, Journey, Aerosmith, Bruno Mars and more have taken the stage the last couple months and thanks to these performances, the town has been bustling. The music doesn’t stop at Harvey’s outdoor arena though. All over South Lake Tahoe, there has been live music at a variety of venues as well as a couple of other outdoor summer concert series featuring well-known local musicians. Not sure where to go to check these events out? Let me help you!
Zephyr Cove’s Sunset Beach Bar has been featuring live acoustic beach side music from 4pm-8pm nightly with some of the most popular live acts in town. You can watch these acts and enjoy a yummy cocktail and Lake Tahoe views all at the same time. If you prefer to lay on the beach or play volleyball, the location of the stage offers the perfect background music for your beach activities.
Live at Lakeview Commons is a South Lake Tahoe classic. Every single Thursday, the commons is turned into a hot spot for locals and visitors alike. Whether you like to people watch (Made fabulous with all the slack lining, hula hooping and more), enjoy the beer garden or hop from vendor to vendor, this summer concert series is a summer must. What is better than a family friendly outdoor party with live music and a Lake Tahoe sunset? Not much. The convenient location allows you to access a variety of local businesses before, during or after. Sprouts, Gaialicious, SUP, a winery, a brand new local toy store and more are all right there.
The Heavenly summer concert series has turned the Heavenly Village into a summer epicenter with the stage conveniently located in the midst of the Villages popular restaurants. Whether you are sitting outside at Fire & Ice, The Gunbarrel Tavern or Basecamp Pizza Co., you are conveniently situated close to some of the most talented acts South Lake Tahoe has to offer. Not to mention, you get to enjoy some fabulous food and go shopping for dessert.
If you are interested in enjoying music in a more low key setting, a majority of the restaurants and bars in towns also feature live acts if not nightly, definitely on weekend nights. Not to mention the casinos also feature live music on designated week nights. If you don’t mind traveling, other areas of Lake Tahoe also have Lake side summer concert series.
The best part is all of these music events are free! So if you can’t justify buying a pricey ticket to the outdoor arena at Harvey’s, there are plenty of other great options.
