Local or tourist, everyone knows that 4th of July in Lake Tahoe is a huge weekend. As it is, people flock to Lake Tahoe year round, but summer is one of our busiest seasons. After all, what can beat sandy beaches, outdoor concerts, community events, sunny blue skies and perfect temperatures? Not much! So it is really no surprise that Tahoe is a 4th of July destination for so many. It has received national media exposure from Travel & Leisure, USA Today and more. With over 100,000 people here to see fireworks, this is one of the top Independence Day celebrations in the nation. South Lake Tahoe’s firework show is choreographed to music played on two local radio stations and can be seen from all corners of town. You can view the fireworks from several locations, whether on a boat on the lake, from a look out spot you have to hike to or a beach front spot that is easily accessible thanks to local transportation and plenty of trails. Lake Front restaurants like Jimmy’s or Edgewood have Fourth of July events that feature live music, amazing dinner menus, specialty cocktails and a front row seat to the show. The M.S. Dixie and the Tahoe Queen offer dinner cruises with similar amenities as the restaurants. In addition to the South Lake Firework show, there are several other shows around the lake.
Incline Village has a show sponsored by a committee that heads up Red, White and Tahoe Blue and can be easily seen from any beach. The Kings Beach fireworks are held at the North Tahoe Event Center at the deck party. Tahoe City does their fireworks show from the commons beach and Truckee’s is at Donner Lake and tickets need to be purchased.
If you plan on beaching it all day, get to your favorite beach early as spots fill up incredibly fast. Don’t forgot to hydrate throughout the day and bring necessities such as SPF, towels and food. Most importantly, be safe and have a fabulous 4th of July week here in beautiful Lake Tahoe!
