It is Memorial Day weekend here in Lake Tahoe and there are plenty of fabulous things to do! From events to outdoor activities, here are a few ideas to consider to get the full experience of Lake Tahoe in just a few short days.
Outdoor Activities
Considering we live on Mother Nature’s playground; there is really something for everyone when it comes to getting outside to play. It is also extremely affordable, if not completely free, and usually comes with added health benefits. With the abundance of trails, you can hike, bike or take a leisurely walk or jog with friends, the kids and the family pet. If you need ideas of what trail is best for you, check out the website for the Tahoe Rim Trail. Day camping is another activity to consider. Grab your lawn chairs, your closest friends and BBQ supplies. Another activity that appeals to all is going to the beach. Several of the South Lake Tahoe marinas and water front resorts have every rental available from speed boats to canoes. Stand Up Paddle boarding is also another great outdoor activity. Or you can simply lie on the beach and soak up the sun.
Events
We are never short of events and entertainment, especially during a Holiday weekend. Heavenly Village features sidewalk sales, live music and the classic car show. This weekend at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe Elvin Bishop is performing live. At Mont Bleu Resort, America is taking the stage. There is also the Memorial Day Pool Party to consider at Mont Bleu resort. If you are more in to Arts and Crafts, consider visiting the Tahoe Arts League outdoor art show down at the Y or the Flea Market. The Marcus Ashley Fine Arts gallery is doing a Dr. Seuss exhibit if you prefer viewing your art indoors. Over on the North Shore in Squaw Valley, the Made In Tahoe festival features several different local vendors. If you are interested in getting a piece of Tahoe History, the Thunderbird Lodge/Whittell Mansion Tour runs daily.
If keeping the weekend low key and simple is on your agenda, there is no place better than Lake Tahoe to sit in your own backyard and take in the sunny blue sky and gorgeous surroundings. Enjoy and be safe out there this weekend!
